From the Croft. Winter winds & gin wins

From the Croft. Winter winds & gin wins

Hello from the croft, and a very Happy New Year to you all as we are now truly into 2026.
It’s been a lively few months here on the Isle of Lewis, with the kind of winter weather that likes to keep us on our toes. November brought a gale strong enough to lift the entire roof from our lambing shed — not quite the surprise we were hoping for, but crofting life has a way of reminding us who’s really in charge. Repairs are underway, and we’re taking it in good spirits.
December brought a welcome change of pace… well, mostly. While we enjoyed a cosy Christmas and New Year with family, friends, good food, and the occasional dram, the run‑up to the holidays was a whirlwind. Thank you to everyone who placed Christmas orders — the distillery was buzzing as we packed and posted every last bottle in time for the festivities.
Before the year drew to a close, we also had some wonderful news to celebrate. Our Stornoway Hebridean Dry Gin picked up silver medals at both the London Spirits Competition and the IWSC, and our new Rhubarb & Strawberry Gin earned a silver award at the Scottish Gin Awards. After all the hard work that goes into crafting each bottle, these recognitions meant the world to us — and we’re so grateful for your support along the way.
Inside the distillery, winter renovations have been ticking along nicely. With the busy months ahead, it’s been the perfect time to freshen things up, make a few improvements, and prepare for another year of crafting spirits we’re proud to share with you.
Out on the croft, we’re gearing up for pregnancy scanning next week — the first big step toward our April lambing season. It’s always an exciting time, full of anticipation and a fair bit of guesswork about what the spring will bring.
Thank you, as always, for being part of our journey. Your support means the world to us, and we’re looking forward to sharing more stories, drams, and crofting adventures with you throughout the year.

Slainte,

David & Karen x
